The Personal Digital Archives Working Group (PDAWG) addresses opportunities and challenges associated with the stewardship of born-digital materials that are created or received by individuals.
Tyranny of the Type Manager
At Personal Archiving 2010, Bill Janssen (PARC) just mentioned something called the "tyranny of the type manager." This is the ubiquity of programs designed to create, manage and use only very specific types of files. For example, Light Room is optimized for its own formats which are used widely by enthusiasts to manage their digital photos.
Saving Our Present for the Future: Personal Archiving 2010
On February 16, 2010, the Internet Archive hosted "a small conference for practitioners in personal digital archiving." The agenda for the day included examples of current practice; developing recommendations for institutions and individuals; and developing a research agenda.

This is a place to identify things going on that you think we should know about (e.g. your own projects, activities we should monitor, groups we should be contacting for potential collaborations). We can clean things up later. For now, let's just generate a list.
