The Ohio State University Libraries (Connell, Dietz & Noonan)

Goal:
Develop Digital Preservation Policy Framework
Identify issues to be addressed (build on earlier work on TRAC), maybe use Drupal tool
Recommendations to OSUL Exec for Task Force(s) to work on issued identified
End product? - Recommended task forces with charges/agendas that have started working on policies at high and medium levels

Progress:
During the summer we used TRAC to do a "gap analysis" and identify pertinent preservation issues for OSUL. Based upon that analysis we proposed the need to create a task force to address digital preservation policy planning.
In September we received a Charge from our Libraries’ Executive Committee to form a task force to complete this initiative.  We also had the good fortune, to have a face-to-face with Nancy McGovern, who was in town to give a lecture for the Libraries a couple of weeks ago. We are meeting twice monthly and have a delivery date of December 1.
Our progress can be seen at: https://carmenwiki.osu.edu/display/libraries/Digital+Preservation+Policy+Framework+Task+Force.

AUGUST 2013: Digital Preservation Policy Framework document had been approved by our OSU Libraries' Executive Committee. Ownership of the Policy Framework is being transferred to the Strategic Digital Initiatives Work Group for implementation.
