About Me:

My name is Gloria Creed-Dikeogu, and I am the Director of Library Services at Ottawa University, Myers Library; the Main Campus of the University, which is located in Ottawa, Kansas. I have worked at Ottawa since July 2002; and have worked in a variety of library settings since 1985, which includes public, academic, school and special libraries. I am originally from Cape Town, South Africa and have lived in Lawrence, Kansas for twenty years. I graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1986 with an undergraduate degree in Library Science, and majors in English Literature, Library Science and Information Science. I worked as a teacher librarian in South Africa for two years and completed a teaching degree before coming to the US in 1990. I came to the University of Kansas for about four years to study Speech-Language Pathology, but finally decided that I would prefer go back into the Library field. I completed my MLS at Emporia State University, Kansas in 1999; and have since finished a dual MBA/MAHR degree at Ottawa University's Kansas City Site. Four years ago I started a PHD in Education with an emphasis in Online Learning and Instructional Technology am still plogging along at it. My favoprite part of working in the library, is working with Archives and Special Collections, even though I have limited training in both and have learned most of what I know, hands-on or because I really needed to know how to do it.

I live with my husband Rex Nathaniel in Lawrence, KS and we have a 16 year old son, Chijike. I will miss his 17th birthday while at DIGCCURR conference.
