Michael E. Brown is an NC native now living in Durham. He graduated with a BA in English from NC State University in 1983 and since then has worked as a reporter, public information writer, and, since 1989, as a technical writer in North Carolina's Research Triangle Park. His work in RTP has primarily focused on product and R&D project documentation for such organizations as Northern Telecom, Burroughs-Wellcome, Glaxo SmithKline, Ziff-Davis, and the EPA's Environmental Modeling and Visualization Lab. He has also freelanced feature articles and theater reviews for the Durham Herald-Sun and the Independent Weekly. In 2007, he entered the Master's in Information Science program at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science (SILS). He entered SILS' doctoral program as a full-time student in Fall 2009 as a DigCCurr II Research Fellow, with a specific interest in the digital curation of cultural heritage and performing arts artifacts.
