I have a BA and MA in history from Ohio University. From 1991 to 2003 I worked at the Ohio Historical Society (OHS) where I held a variety of positions including the Head of Reference and State Archivist. While at OHS I started the first state Electronic records Committee (ERC), a model that has been adopted by several other states. In 2003 I took the position of Head of Records Management Operations at Battelle where I am currently the Enterprise Content Manager. I was a Certified Records Manager from 2005 through 2008 and a member of the Ohio Historical Records Advisory Board from 2001 through 2007.
In my youth, I described myself as a soldier, scholar, and coolie. Now I fear I have become a aging bureaucrat with an attitude – edging more towards a curmudgeon than I would like . On the plus side I work hard, I am loyal, reasonably intelligent, and generous to a fault. On the negative side I have no patience, and I can be insensitive. I like people as individuals, but I detest the mindless masses. I believe in good and evil, and I believe it is governments job to save us from the excesses of capitalism, and the petty, narrow minded nature that all of us have. And I believe in fast cars, marksmanship, love, and having fun – cause life is short.
